In one of my previous post, I have discussed about how to Install Informatica PowerCenter 8.6 Server on Windows 7 operating system.
In this post, we will discuss step-by-step process of Installation of Informatica Powercenter 8.6 Client on Windows 7. Here it is important to note that in previous version of Informatica PowerCenter (7.x), Server and Client, both used to be packaged in a single installation zip file.
However starting from version 8, Server and Client, both needs to be installed separately using separate installable.
Step1:- Change compatibility of install.exe to Windows XP SP3.
Client install.exe can be found at following path:-
Right click on install.exe à Compatibility tab –> Check box for Run this program in compatibility mode for Windows XP (Service Pack 3).
Step2:- Launch install.bat by double clicking on it.
Step3:- After a few moments, installation wizard will be launched. In the first screen, it will prompt you to select the language.
Step4:- Next screen is the welcome screen. Say –> Next.
Step5:- Click on “Install PowerCenter Client 8.6.0” and say –> Next.
Step6:- Say –> Next
Step7:- Installation directory
Give the same installation directory, which was given at the time of server Installation.
Step8:- Next screen will give you pre summary of Installation of Informatica PowerCenter Client 8.6.0 on Windows 7.
Say –> Install.
Step9:- Actual Installation will start here. You can see following screens during installation process.
Step10:- Post Installation summary.
In this step, I got a nonfatal error however Installation was successful. I just chose to ignore this error.
Now Informatica PowerCenter 8.6.0 Client has been installed successfully on Windows 7 operating system.
Step11:- Next screen tells you that Installation is completed. And gives you an option to launch any of these clients.
Finally say –> Done
Step12:- This is the last window of installation wizard.
It will disappear automatically in few moments.
After completion of this step, you will see that Informatica Client has been installed at your machine and a shortcut has been created in All Programs.
In next post, we will discuss how to access admin console, create repository and integration services.
